Registered Nurse Lactation Specialist

Part Time / two - 10 hour shifts 7am - 5pm
Must be flexible for weekday/weekend availability

Job Summary and Qualifications


This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life for all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.

A skilled member of the healthcare team who, working under the supervision of the lactation program, provides patient care.

The lactation consultant takes brief patient histories and performs physical examinations under the lactation consultant's scope of care. Develops treatment plans and explains them to patients. When necessary, will perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements:
Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.
BLS required at hire.
NRP required within 90 days of hire.
IBCLC certification required.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Prior experience in counseling breastfeeding women.
Strong interpersonal skills. Adept at the use of adult learning principles.

Clinical experience in the hospital setting as a lactation consultant preferred; will consider new IBCLCs with recent clinical experience in Mom Baby or NICU.

NICU background is preferred.
