Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Healthcare Unit Coordinator is a vital non-licensed role responsible for executing clerical tasks within the unit as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize medical documentation for patient discharges, new admissions, and transfers.
  • Effectively communicate information both verbally and in written messages.
  • Manage telephone communications with professionalism, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Perform various clerical duties as needed.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant policies.
  • Address inquiries from the public as necessary.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues as requested.
  • Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Philosophy of the Medical Center.
  • Exhibit regular and dependable attendance.
  • Carry out additional essential responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Assistant is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Prior experience in clerical roles is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with computer systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Must be self-driven and capable of adhering to established policies and procedures set forth by the healthcare facility.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit and stand intermittently for 8 to 12 hours daily.
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment, including telephones and computer keyboards.
  • Consistently work under pressure while maintaining near 100% accuracy and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Regularly utilize manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently engage in standing, walking, and sitting, requiring eye-hand coordination and color recognition.
  • Occasionally reach above shoulder height and regularly lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Occasionally navigate uneven surfaces.
