Job Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities
  • You will accurately plan, design, and construct highly complex, high strength/weight ratio models, devices, vehicles, and structures using modern composite materials and processing methods.
  • You will make provisions and install instrumentations, thermocouples and precision measuring equipment or operational mechanisms, inside and outside models.
  • You will consult and advise midshipmen, Trident Scholars and faculty members on advanced composite technologies, processes, materials and fabrication techniques.
  • You will conduct research on new materials and established techniques and procedures for their use in model making.
  • You will prepare outlines of subject matter, and conducts laboratories/lectures, about composite materials fabrication and processing techniques for groups of students or faculty.
Requirements
  • Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, designing, and constructing complex models, devices, vehicles and structures, using modern composite materials and processing methods; 2) Collecting and analyzing data to be used in technical papers and/or publications; 3) Reading, interpreting and generating complex architectural drawings.
Additional Qualifications

Applicants that do not meet the specialized experience as described above may qualify with the following education:

  • Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution OR
  • Successful completion of 3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution.

If you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the qualification requirements if the applicant can provide documentation indicating that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
