Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Specialist

Position Summary:
The Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Specialist is accountable for all operational support related to the use and upkeep of machinery at client locations. This role serves as the primary customer liaison for AIT's on-site operations, requiring strong communication and client service capabilities. The specialist utilizes knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to identify equipment issues and restore functionality. Responsibilities include supporting maintenance, production, and factory machinery, as well as tooling within the client's facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and disassemble production tools and equipment.
- Initiate and terminate equipment operations following safety protocols and company standards.
- Diagnose issues by observing machinery in use, listening for irregularities, and employing precision measuring instruments.
- Remove faulty components through disassembly, utilizing hoists, cranes, and hand tools.
- Adjust operational parts and control instruments using hand tools and measuring devices.
- Interpret and adhere to complex job specifications, blueprints, and operational procedures.
- Transport materials and products between storage and work areas using appropriate equipment.
- Safely operate elevated platform equipment at various heights.
- Accurately assemble components to meet established specifications.
- Promote and adhere to safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Inspect and verify the accuracy of assembled items against standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of machinery and work areas.
- Measure and mark reference points on components according to specifications.
- Cut materials to specified dimensions using appropriate tools.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Trade school or apprenticeship in a relevant field is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in a related role, such as Tool Maker or Tool Maintenance Technician, is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of control software in an automated setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Adherence to established processes and procedures.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, with experience in operating small machinery.
- Capability to work in a dynamic, high-energy environment.
- Strong initiative and commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer skills, including file management and software navigation.
- Ability to build constructive relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily indoors within a controlled production and office environment, with potential exposure to various physical demands and conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent movement and operation of machinery.
- Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
