About the Role:

The Grants Manager will play a critical role in securing substantial financial resources from institutional funders to achieve ambitious organizational revenue goals. Reporting directly to the Director of Institutional Giving, this position will be responsible for executing the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of foundations, government funders, corporations, and other organizational supporters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of Inglis, its programs, and strategic funding priorities
  • Develop detailed proposals and reports for Inglis' funders across all program areas, in collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving, development staff, key program, finance, compliance, and marketing staff
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff (program, project, finance, marketing, compliance) staff and executive leadership to support the development of new projects/programs and accompanying budgets, contributing institutional giving expertise as needed
  • In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving, senior program and communications staff, and other development colleagues, develop innovative and intersectional frames for Inglis' work to connect with new funders and generate additional broad financial support
  • Develop, maintain, and track pertinent funder outreach—including cultivations, solicitations, and other activities—in Raiser's Edge and other tracking systems, in collaboration with other members of the development team
  • Directly manage a portfolio of institutional funders, engage in grant cultivation, stewardship, cultivation, and regular communications with institutional donors' staff
  • Actively engage in institutional prospect research and cultivation
  • In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving and colleagues in development and finance, assist in developing and monitoring the Inglis' annual and longer-term revenue plan and the development department's annual budget as they relate to institutional support
  • Represent the organization at donor-facing activities, conferences, and other public events and engage in other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible institutional fundraising experience, including significant experience in writing grant proposals and reports
  • A proven track record of success, securing 5+ figure donations, including new annual and multi-year commitments
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively uncover new opportunities to build and maintain a robust pipeline
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to write in compelling language about Inglis' work and to prepare complex proposals, reports, and related materials
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage diverse audiences and to build long-term relationships, including experience leveraging senior staff to achieve fundraising success
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail
  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted projects, meet deadlines, and perform well independently in a multi-tasking environment
  • Sound judgment and ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential information regarding the Inglis' business and sensitive donor information; high degree of self-motivation, personal discipline, and integrity
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative, team environment and work independently
  • Outstanding communication and highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to be persuasive in both written and verbal communications
  • Working knowledge of Raiser's Edge (or similar database) and prospect research tools
