Position Overview:
Vaco is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to enhance operational efficiency.

Objective:
Utilize industrial engineering techniques to create and implement streamlined systems that effectively combine labor, machinery, materials, information, and energy. The primary aim is to reduce waste throughout the manufacturing process while maintaining compliance with quality and safety regulations across all production areas.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Leadership in Process Enhancement:
    • Guide and engage in projects aimed at cost savings and process refinement, applying Lean methodologies and tools.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Perform statistical evaluations to assess the effectiveness of current processes, procedures, equipment, and workforce productivity.
  • Design of Production Flow:
    • Create and execute efficient production flow designs, including:
      • Arrangement of physical cells/machines
      • Material handling and flow
      • In-process quality checks (e.g., poka-yoke)
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement:
    • Keep abreast of new industry trends and incorporate continuous improvement methodologies across manufacturing operations.
  • Work Measurement & Analysis:
    • Develop and uphold work measurement systems, gathering and analyzing data to enhance productivity.
  • Innovation & Execution:
    • Investigate, assess, and apply innovative concepts, materials, methods, and processes for both new and existing products.
  • Labor Standards Development:
    • Establish and implement direct labor standards for precise costing and staffing.
  • Performance Metrics Management:
    • Design and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and enhance production efficiency.
  • Production Control Systems:
    • Develop control systems to synchronize production planning activities, ensuring adherence to quality, delivery, and safety standards.
  • Integration of Quality Assurance:
    • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to incorporate quality control measures, addressing production challenges while minimizing expenses.
  • Analysis of System Interactions:
    • Apply knowledge of system interactions to anticipate and manage the effects of operational modifications on overall performance.
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering.
  • Certifications:
    • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt required; Black Belt preferred).
  • Expertise in Lean Manufacturing:
    • Comprehensive understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, with practical experience in implementation.
  • Communication Proficiency:
    • Ability to effectively convey and demonstrate Lean concepts at all organizational levels.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Experience with manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, and light assembly.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Additional Qualifications:
    • Experience with safety-related products is beneficial.
    • Willingness to occasionally travel internationally to engage with customers and suppliers.
  • Work Environment:
    • Regular exposure to production elements, including noise, moving machinery, dust, and fumes.
