Position Summary

As a Mechanical Parts Inspector, you will be responsible for performing thorough first piece inspections to ensure compliance with technical drawings, process data sheets, and related documentation. You will accurately document inspection results, including acceptances and rejections, in a digital database.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct meticulous first piece inspections to confirm adherence to technical specifications and documentation.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using standard mechanical gauges on various electrical and mechanical components.
  • Inspect printed wiring boards, machine-formed parts, rubber products, and both purchased and internally fabricated materials to ensure compliance with purchase orders and specifications.

Essential Duties

Additionally, you will:

  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for dimensional inspections.
  • Become proficient in operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including military and commercial standards.
  • Adhere to sample selection protocols and company inspection procedures.
  • Follow specific work instructions and operate with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical and mechanical inspection.
  • Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes for inspecting products like castings, forgings, and sheet metal.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams regarding inspection outcomes.

Eligibility Criteria

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a written assessment on GD&T.
