Are you passionate about keeping Colorado's roadways safe and open? Do you enjoy working outdoors and being physically active? We're seeking a highly motivated and skilled Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).

Job Summary

This is a critical role that requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service. As a Highway Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance, including installing pavement markings, repairing guardrail and signs, plowing snow, and operating heavy equipment. You will work in a team environment, responding to emergencies and working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Install pavement markings and repair guardrail and signs
  • Plow snow and operate heavy equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as mowing grass and weeds, and removing debris from roadways
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, and backhoes
  • Work in a team environment, responding to emergencies and working in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
  • Must have at least two years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience
  • Must possess a current, valid regular driver's license
  • Must obtain a CDL Permit within 30 days of hire and a valid Commercial Driver's License Class A or B within 120 days of hire
  • Must pass a pre-employment screening, including a social security number trace, criminal records check, and driving records check
