Position Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare and cook both hot and cold meals in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as our internal policies. This includes managing sanitation, ordering, scheduling, menu planning, and overall kitchen supervision, as directed by the culinary leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Duties

  1. Review and prepare meals according to planned menus and established recipes, ensuring they are visually appealing and flavorful.
  2. Inspect dietary trays to confirm that residents receive the correct meals tailored to their dietary needs.
  3. Document necessary administrative tasks and submit reports to the Culinary Services Director.
  4. Adhere to dietary procedures and assist in establishing timelines for meal preparation.
  5. Prepare substitute meals for residents who decline the standard offerings.
  6. Support meal service as needed, ensuring timely delivery.
  7. Assist in food preparation for special events and gatherings.
  8. Meet ongoing training requirements as mandated by federal and state regulations.

Safety and Sanitation

Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following sanitary regulations and established procedures, including proper hand hygiene.

Equipment and Supply Management

Ensure that all necessary food and supplies are available for upcoming meals and assist with inventory management and proper storage practices.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess the ability to make sound decisions independently and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including residents, families, and staff. A culinary background with at least six months of experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred, along with knowledge of large-scale food preparation and safety practices.

Certifications

While not mandatory, a Serve Safe Certification or food handler's permit is preferred.
