HOUSEKEEPING TEAM LEADER

Reports to Executive Housekeeper; position is non-exempt

THE ROLE

The Housekeeping Team Leader is responsible for directly assisting the Executive Housekeeper while also providing valuable insights to the Hotel Manager. This role requires a high level of self-motivation to effectively manage the department and collaborate with Engineering and Guest Services teams. As a leader, you will guide your team through a cooperative approach, understanding that both tactical and strategic thinking are essential.

The Housekeeping Team Leader is expected to set a positive example by actively engaging with both staff and guests throughout the day. We encourage our leaders to inspire and challenge one another to reach their full potential. The Housekeeping Team Leader will uphold and implement the standards for guest room experiences during their stay.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Promote the company's Art + Science principles to ensure that the values of translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and teamwork are exemplified by you and your team.
  • Assist in training, scheduling, coaching, and motivating team members to foster an environment that encourages creativity and nurtures future talent for succession planning.

  • Model the company's open-door policy and employee engagement practices, contributing to a positive workplace; consistently uphold business ethics and best practices; and perform other job-related duties as required.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and skill in all aspects of guest experiences, coaching your team to handle all guest interactions with the utmost hospitality and professionalism; encourage innovative solutions to accommodate guest requests whenever feasible.
  • Monitor the condition of all physical facilities and equipment within the hotel, paying attention to details that may go unnoticed. Collaborate with other departments and third-party vendors to execute thorough cleaning and preventative maintenance programs, ensuring the aesthetic appeal of all furnishings and fixtures.
  • Work alongside your team to complete daily tasks, such as inspecting rooms, cleaning guest accommodations, or stocking supplies to ensure standards are met and team members feel supported and valued in exceeding guest expectations.
  • Be knowledgeable about all aspects related to the safety, security, satisfaction, and well-being of hotel guests and staff; respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or safety situations, ensuring all team members are trained in proper emergency protocols.
  • Encourage open communication within the department by facilitating daily briefings and monthly all-staff meetings to create a transparent dialogue among the team, addressing key priorities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members to enhance their skills, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • A minimum of three (3) years of housekeeping experience, preferably within an upscale, lifestyle, or luxury hospitality environment; at least one (1) year in a leadership capacity is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication; knowledge of Spanish or Creole is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for creating documents and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for handling housekeeping supplies.
  • Capability to push/pull up to 100 lbs. for linen carts and other supplies.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
