Job Summary

The Security Officer will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at the Inn on Biltmore Estate for both associates and guests. This role will involve conducting daily inspections, monitoring entrances and exits, and responding to emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct daily inspections of the Inn to identify potential security risks and hazards.
  2. Monitor entrances and exits to ensure the safety and security of guests and associates.
  3. Respond to emergency situations, such as fires or safety hazards, in a calm and rational manner.
  4. Assist guests with door lock and safe problems, and control access to lock-up areas.
  5. Escort guests and employees as required, and provide assistance with house banks.
  6. Conduct safety and other investigations, and document and log incidents.
  7. Maintain an audit of all card keys and hard keys to all doors to the Inn.
  8. Recommend safety ideas and participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least one year of similar experience in guest services support, safety, security, or a related field.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class internal and external guest service and proven leadership skills.
  4. Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to write and complete reports in standard English.
  6. Proactive and exercises good judgment, can problem solve and troubleshoot.
  7. Ability to handle a variety of guest and employee situations in a professional manner.
  8. Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore systems and protocols.
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  10. Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR, and First Aid certification.

Physical Requirements

  1. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  2. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb as needed.
  3. Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  4. Must be able to physically respond and effectively coordinate in the event of emergencies.
  5. May be exposed to dirt, pollen, chemicals, fluids, or other substances in the course of duty.
  6. May work outside with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
  7. Must be at least 19 years of age and have a valid NC Driver's License.
