Job Title: Waste Collection CDL Driver

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Waste Collection CDL Driver to join our team at Interstate Waste Services. As a Waste Collection CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a rear-loading truck to collect waste and recyclable materials from customers in the Bronx area.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a rear-loading truck to collect waste and recyclable materials from customers.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that containers and their contents are secure and properly loaded onto the truck.
  • Monitor for safety and service-related issues, and report any incidents or accidents to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers at all times, and respond to complaints in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid Class A or B CDL and a clean driving record.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL A or B, within the last 7 years.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
  • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.
  • Must be able to read and understand a map.
  • Must be able to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.
Physical Requirements:
  • The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Drivers must be able to physically mount and dismount the truck throughout the duration of the workday.
