Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Waste Collection CDL Driver to join our team at Interstate Waste Services. As a Waste Collection CDL Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a rear-loading truck, collecting waste and recyclable materials, and transporting them to disposal, transfer, or recycle facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Ensure the safe operation of the truck, adhering to Interstate Waste Services' safety standards, OSHA, and DOT regulations, as well as local traffic laws.
  • Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Perform thorough inspections of the assigned vehicle, documenting any issues on the standard DVIR form for corrective review and repair.
  • Container Security: Ensure the container and its content are always secure, checking tarps and ties periodically, and climbing onto containers or reaching overhead as needed.
  • Route Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-route inspections of the assigned truck, documenting any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Incident Reporting: Immediately notify the Route Supervisor or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers at all times, responding to complaints about schedules and quality of service.
  • Training and Meetings: Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards.
Requirements
  • Age and Eligibility: Be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • CDL Requirements: Possess a valid Class A or B CDL and a clean driving record.
  • Experience: Have at least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL A or B within the last 7 years, with experience as a Driver or Helper for a refuse company highly preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess a working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations, as well as the ability to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to lift up to 50 pounds, mount and dismount the truck multiple times, and work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
