Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class A CDL Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team at Interstate Waste Services, Inc. in Bronx, NY.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate tractor trailers safely and efficiently, transporting containers of municipal and commercial waste between our local Transfer Stations and rail yards.
  • Ensure the secure loading and unloading of intermodal containers and their contents.
  • Perform pre- and post-route inspections of assigned trucks and document any safety issues.
  • Monitor for safety and service-related issues, reporting any incidents or concerns to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers, responding to complaints and providing excellent customer service.
Requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL-A, within the last 7 years.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and applicable traffic regulations.
  • Ability to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public and understand highway traffic and signals.
  • Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.

Work Environment

The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route. Our trucks are equipped with route tracking software and video monitoring, and we strictly adhere to DOT safety regulations.
