Aerospace Risk Underwriting Specialist

An Aerospace Underwriter is tasked with assessing and pricing a diverse range of aerospace insurance risks. Under general supervision, this role involves underwriting assigned aerospace risks within individual authority across multiple insurance product lines, which may encompass personal and business aircraft, charter services, aerial photography, airports, agricultural aerial application, unmanned aerial systems (drones), and flight training institutions. The Underwriter serves as the primary liaison for both new and renewal business, engaging daily with colleagues from various departments and brokers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market and underwrite a portfolio of business in collaboration with partner brokers.
  • Establish and nurture strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Achieve renewal retention targets through effective negotiation and communication, which may include onsite meetings with brokers and clients.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while cross-selling products by fostering relationships with producers and account managers.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of underwriting files in accordance with authority statements and guidelines.
  • Support annual audits for specific product lines.
  • Utilize underwriting and producer management tools to achieve profitability objectives.
  • Conduct independent sales outreach to cultivate strong relationships and expand the business portfolio.
  • Review, assess, and suggest improvements to underwriting guidelines and workflows.
  • Participate in various underwriting and marketing initiatives aimed at enhancing overall company performance.
Qualifications:
  • Over 5 years of experience in aerospace insurance.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership capabilities in shaping vision, driving results, and leading effective teams.
  • Experience overseeing multiple products and geographical areas is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Aerospace sector, including product features, regulatory frameworks, and associated risks.
  • Understanding of market segmentation, portfolio management, and distribution strategies.
  • Exceptional marketing, influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
