About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join CNA, a leading insurance company, as an Underwriting Associate in their Private Equity Middle Market team. The role is based on the company's use of RippleMatch, a platform that connects top talent with leading companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Analysis: Perform thorough underwriting analysis and documentation to determine the acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Endorsement Requests: Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority, referring outside of authority to underwriters with recommended action.
  • Renewal Book Management: Manage assigned renewal book within assigned authority, demonstrating the ability to triage renewal applications/specs and formulate next steps for underwriters.
  • Liaison and Communication: Work as a liaison within the branch or across CNA to resolve issues related to billing and collections, risk control, underwriting guidance, and other areas.
  • Documentation and Quality: Document assigned files ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality, including correspondence, proposals, endorsements, cancellations, and other relevant documents.
  • Advanced Pricing Strategy: Execute on advanced pricing strategy on behalf of underwriters, in compliance with regulatory and CNA-specific underwriting strategies.
  • Quote Proposals and Negotiations: Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners within assigned authority.
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the first-line point of contact to producers/customers on account-related matters, proactively identifying opportunities for up-sell or account rounding.
  • Marketing and Field Visits: Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and make field visits.
  • System Expertise: Leverage expertise in systems and workflows, serving as a resource to others and conduit for feedback to internal underwriting partners.
  • Knowledge and Trends: Stay current on line of business strategy, state/territory issues, regulations, and trends.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience: Possess knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting, including insurance products, policy processing procedures, and documentation.
  • Time Management and Analytical Skills: Demonstrate strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
  • Independence and Coaching: Demonstrate the ability to work independently on multiple tasks and possess strong capability to advise and coach others.
  • Customer Service Experience: Possess demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people on a daily basis.
  • Technical Skills: Possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Typically a minimum of three years of related work experience.
