Candidate Profile

Our client is on the lookout for skilled Harbor Pilots to become part of the Terminal Pilotage Operations Division. This division is tasked with delivering a professional pilotage service and managing vessel traffic systems at all Saudi Aramco Oil Ports and Terminals, ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of crude oils and hydrocarbon products.

Your main responsibilities will include the safe berthing and unberthing of vessels, particularly at North Pier and Sea Island, with the capability to handle vessels up to 350,000 DWT. You will report administratively to the Chief Pilot while working closely with the senior Harbor Pilot.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science from an accredited Maritime Studies College with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot roles or equivalent seagoing experience.
  • Alternatively, a High National Diploma from a recognized Maritime Studies College with 6 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot roles or equivalent seagoing experience.
  • Maritime Studies discipline is mandatory for HND & Bachelor graduates.
  • Completion of a Tanker Safety Course and Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas is required.
  • Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course certification is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections of all vessels prior to berthing or loading.
  • Guide deep-loaded vessels to a secure anchorage and prepare them for departure upon the ship's Master's request.
  • Investigate incidents of oil pollution related to ships and piers, preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Maintain an official log of all vessels handled and record essential characteristics of each vessel.
  • Ensure effective radio communication with vessels in the operational area, providing information on ballast conditions, berthing and unberthing schedules, and other relevant details to facilitate ship movement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Senior Harbor Pilot supervision.
  • Issue direct commands regarding steering, engine speed, and anchor usage; coordinate tugs and mooring launches via radio during berthing/unberthing operations.
  • Direct pier personnel or mooring launches in the proper sequence for mooring line management.
