Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team at Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the medical needs of patients pursuing Laryngology and Voice Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient care and medical management for a variety of Laryngology and Voice related Otolaryngology diagnoses.
  • Orient residents and nursing staff to departmental treatment guidelines and protocols.
  • Provide initial and follow-up continuity evaluation and management services to patients.
  • Provide family education for a variety of Laryngology and Voice disorders.
  • Participate in the development of clinical pathways/care plans/guidelines/protocols.
  • Assist Laryngology faculty members with in-office procedures.
  • Facilitate communication between faculty and residents and nursing about care plans and outpatient follow-up plans.
  • Collaborate with clinic nursing staff to triage medical calls from patients, referring and primary care physicians.
  • Provide pre and postoperative treatment education to families.
  • Coordinate scheduling and referrals.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners must have a MSN with a nurse practitioner focus and be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing and a certified nurse practitioner.
  • Physician Assistants must be licensed as a PA in the State of Virginia.
