Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SALT Senior Manager to join our expanding Asset Management practice. This role offers the opportunity to work with complex clients in the Asset Management industry, focusing on private equity funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed review and analysis of complex Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and/or FoF partnership state tax returns.
  • Serve as a Career Advisor, providing mentorship and coaching to employees, including honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Train and develop staff members to enhance their technical skills and expertise.
  • Work on multiple complex issues, communicating effectively with clients and the service team to manage risk and facilitate communication.
  • Serve as the state tax client service coordinator for assigned clients.
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of state tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and mergers and acquisitions activities.
  • Review research findings to ensure conclusions align with firm policies and professional standards.
  • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients.
  • Manage corporate client needs related to tax services and state tax compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional travel.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in business taxation, preferably with a Big 4 or large national, regional, or local accounting firm.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Licensed JD.
  • Prior state and local tax compliance and consulting experience serving Asset Management clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of state tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance.
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, with industry specialization a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
