Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Firefighter/Paramedic to join our team at the City of Sheboygan, WI. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will be responsible for responding to emergency situations, providing medical care and transportation to patients, and educating the public on safety and prevention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls, including fires, medical emergencies, and rescues
  • Provide medical care and transportation to patients, including administering medications and performing medical interventions
  • Operate and maintain fire apparatus and equipment, including engines, trucks, and rescue vehicles
  • Participate in training and drills to maintain and improve skills and knowledge
  • Work collaboratively with other firefighters and emergency responders to achieve common goals
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct inspections and investigations to identify potential fire hazards and safety risks
  • Develop and implement safety and prevention programs for the community
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Valid Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification required; EMT-Paramedic license required within 6 months of hire
  • Firefighter I and II certifications required; Firefighter II certification required within 6 months of hire
  • CPAT certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and patients; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
