Job Overview

Compliance Management International (CMI) is a leading global provider of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) services. We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing best practices, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and cultivating a culture of safety enhancement on targeted construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor, educate, and train staff on safety protocols
  • Foster a positive safety culture within the team
  • Attend safety meetings as required, at varying frequencies
  • Conduct on-site observations and recommend safety work practices
  • Facilitate pre-task planning, audits, job safety analyses (JSAs), and permit processes
  • Conduct site-specific orientations, training classes, and toolbox talks
  • Generate reports as needed by the job site
Requirements and Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct construction safety oversight experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of Construction Safety Standards (1926)
  • Demonstrated expertise in diverse construction and safety practices
  • Experienced in ground-up construction safety oversight
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate with teams across all organizational levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software applications
Education and Credentials
  • OSHA 30 Construction certification obtained within the last 5 years
  • OSHA 510 and/or 500 certifications preferred
  • Credentialing from BCSP, STSC, CHST, or CSP strongly preferred
  • Degree in a safety-related field preferred
  • First Aid CPR AED certification required
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking often on rough terrain.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl and bend
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
Other Requirements
  • Background check and potential drug screening required for the position
  • Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance
