Role Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in the Trauma ICU, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments upon admission.
  • Developing and updating care plans based on patient responses and treatment effectiveness.
  • Documenting nursing interventions and patient outcomes accurately.
  • Providing educational resources to patients and their families regarding care and treatment options.
  • Administering medications and performing treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Managing IV fluids and medications, including venipuncture procedures.
  • Ensuring that physician orders are executed and communicated effectively across departments.
  • Alerting the Charge Nurse or physician of any changes in patient conditions.
  • Delivering comprehensive reports to ensure continuity of care during shift changes.
  • Caring for critically ill patients with complex medical needs.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred experience in Critical Care and/or Trauma Nursing.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Texas or a Compact Nursing License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Preferred certifications include Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
  • Completion of Advanced Trauma Nursing Course (CATN) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is preferred.
