Role Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in the Trauma ICU, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments upon admission.
  • Developing and updating individualized care plans based on patient responses.
  • Documenting nursing interventions and patient outcomes accurately.
  • Providing educational resources to patients and their families regarding care and treatment options.
  • Administering medications and performing treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Managing IV therapies and monitoring hemodynamic status.
  • Coordinating with healthcare teams to ensure effective implementation of physician orders.
  • Reporting significant changes in patient conditions to the Charge Nurse or physician.
  • Ensuring continuity of care through detailed handover reports.
  • Delivering specialized care for critically ill patients with complex needs.

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
  • Preferred experience in Critical Care or Trauma Nursing.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Current Texas RN license or Compact RN license (Texas license required within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of hire.
  • Preferred certifications include Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).
  • Completion of Advanced Trauma Nursing Course (CATN) is preferred.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred.
