Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst is an integral member of the Accounting team within the Global Port & Destination Development Group (GPDDG). This role is accountable for ensuring precise and timely financial reporting related to our Global Ports and Head Offices operations. The Senior Financial Analyst will oversee the monthly preparation and examination of journal entries, account reconciliations, payroll processing, fund requisitions, and transfers. This position also involves compiling data for VAT submissions in the Bahamas and preparing quarterly and annual reports for external stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines and demonstrates a high degree of independence and problem-solving skills. A successful candidate will possess extensive accounting experience, innovative thinking, proven leadership capabilities, and strong technical proficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage month-end closing processes: prepare and review journal entries for Head Offices and ensure completeness of supporting documentation from port Controllers. Conduct thorough reviews of Balance Sheets and Income Statements.
  • Evaluate fund requisitions and related bank transfer requests from operating ports, prepare wire payments for Head Office, and review payroll reports from ports.
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly financial results packages for internal reporting. Assist in the compilation of quarterly and annual deliverables for external reporting.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis on key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare and review Balance Sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely submission and accuracy of account information.
  • Oversee the vendor and supplier creation process, collaborating with relevant departments.
  • Compile VAT data for operations in the Bahamas on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support management with ad hoc requests and special projects as required.
  • Assist with audit requests and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Preferred: Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in high-volume accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft applications; knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion Essbase, and Blackline is advantageous.
  • Fluency in Spanish, both written and spoken, is essential. Must be proactive, solutions-oriented, and committed to meeting deadlines. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills are required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Fundamental understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Ability to research and reconcile complex accounts.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.

Travel Requirements: Less than 25% travel may be required.

Work Environment: Primarily in a climate-controlled setting with minimal safety or health hazards.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
