Key Responsibilities
  • Administer road examinations to applicants for all classes of driver's licenses
  • Serve as an information clerk to the public
  • Explain improper actions to applicants during the examination
  • Review and complete driver's license applications for processing
  • Check the appropriateness and validity of applicant identification documents
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of business English, spelling, and commercial arithmetic
  • Working knowledge of office methods, practices, and procedures
  • Elementary knowledge of the Illinois Vehicle Code as it applies to office tasks pertaining to obtaining or retaining a valid Illinois driver's license
  • Ability to maintain records of some complexity
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the general public and to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Education and Work Experience
  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of elementary school
  • Two years of general office experience, preferably including one year in a driver or motor vehicle facility and operation of keyboard equipment
