Network Engineer Lead for Combat Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations
This role is part of the Combat Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations (CAF DMO) program at Huntington Ingalls Industries, a leading provider of naval ships and defense technology solutions. As a Network Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for designing and planning network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, and conducting testing of network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs and plans network systems to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture, including hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools.
- Conducts testing of network systems to ensure they meet requirements and are secure.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.
- Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Requirements:
- 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 7 years with a Master's degree, or 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate, or 13 years with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a primarily Cisco environment.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues at all layers of the OSI model.
- Experience working with TACLANE encryption devices.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize and address issues as they arise.
- Ability to work in a small team, but also able to work individually with minimal oversight.
- Must have current Cisco or another network-related certification.
- DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification.
- Must be a US citizen, currently hold, and able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Maintains current Cisco or other network-related certification.
- Experience working with TACLANE encryption devices.
- Previous experience managing a USAF distributed training network.
- Experience in Combat Air Force (CAF) operations and training.
Physical Requirements:
- May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
