Position Overview

This role is crucial for the effective functioning of all electrical systems and electronic components on site. The incumbent will oversee plant instrumentation, control systems, and electrical/electronic apparatus, along with other related equipment. The individual must possess the capability to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, program, document, upgrade, and install equipment and systems.

Core Responsibilities
  • Ensure the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all existing process control equipment, from computers and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to motor controllers and field devices, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), instrumentation, and wiring.
  • Oversee the calibration, installation, and documentation of electrical/electronic equipment, control systems, and instruments to achieve operational and maintenance objectives.
  • Facilitate the safe and efficient programming of control systems, such as PLCs, SCADA systems, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), standalone controllers, and other necessary devices.
  • Maintain the accuracy of data reporting systems and records, including maintenance logs, preventative maintenance forms, work orders, inventory control forms, and other required documentation.
  • Provide effective training for new Process Control Technicians and ongoing training for existing team members.
  • Keep the work area clean and functional.
  • Fulfill assigned responsibilities during plant evacuations or other emergency situations.
  • Participate in training activities relevant to the position and apply acquired skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and policies to prevent injuries to self or others.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures as well as Union Labor Agreements.
  • Engage with team members and other support groups in a collaborative management style that aligns with operational goals.
Educational Requirements

A certificate of completion from an accredited 2-year trade school or equivalent experience in the instrumentation/process control fields is required. A copy of school transcripts must be provided.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of twenty-four months of instrumentation experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent is necessary.

A comprehensive understanding of electrical systems and safety practices, analog and digital instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, SCADA systems, and other control systems is essential.

Basic computer skills in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and fundamental DOS and Windows commands for generating reports and documentation are required.

The ability to utilize electrical and electronic testing equipment for maintenance and troubleshooting is necessary.

Additional Information

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Completion of training on the safe operation of lift trucks and maintaining certification requirements.
  • Completion of training on the safe operation of aerial lifts and maintaining certification requirements.
  • Completion of training on fall protection and adherence to fall restraint requirements.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets the standards necessary for job performance while representing the company.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as required by management to meet operational standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.36

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with overtime paid after 10 hours worked each day.
