Position Overview:

The Aircraft Ramp Operations Supervisor is tasked with the critical responsibility of overseeing the safe and efficient movement of aircraft within the ramp zones adjacent to terminal facilities at a major international airport. This role necessitates close collaboration with local FAA Air Traffic Control personnel to facilitate the seamless transition of aircraft from active taxiways to designated ramp areas and gates. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the position requires availability for early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties encompass:

  • Coordinating gate assignments for airlines.
  • Managing inbound and outbound baggage operations.
  • Updating and maintaining terminal and gate Flight Information Displays.
  • Tracking and coordinating Common Use gates.
  • Generating reports as mandated by internal stakeholders, FAA, Airport Authority, and airlines.

The Aircraft Ramp Operations Supervisor will periodically provide the Ramp Tower Manager with updates on operational reports, achievements, and challenges encountered during operations. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the safe and orderly movement of aircraft in and out of the terminal ramp.
  • Maintaining accuracy in the Flight Information Display System.
  • Validating flight schedule information to align with real-time resource availability.
  • Identifying and resolving potential operational conflicts proactively.
  • Analyzing and adjusting gate plans to optimize efficiency.
  • Keeping an accurate record of airline flight schedules.
  • Determining the most effective gate plans while considering terminal constraints and unforeseen issues.
  • Responding promptly to airline requests and changes while optimizing resource use.
  • Facilitating communication and coordination among airlines, ground service providers, and maintenance teams.
  • Managing gate assignments during both regular and irregular operations.
  • Executing additional tasks as directed by the Ramp Tower Manager or Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma, supplemented by at least two years of college education, military experience, FAA certification, or completion of the Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI). A minimum of two years of progressive experience in aircraft movement control at a large hub airport with multiple terminals is required.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Effective analytical and multitasking abilities.
  • Capability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer systems and technical applications.
