Job Summary

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Consultant to join our team. As a Behavioral Health Consultant, you will provide direct patient care, engage in program development, and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to manage the overall health of our enrolled population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide brief evaluations, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based interventions to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Assist patients and families with education, coping strategies, adjustment to disease, grief response, and acute or chronic mental health issues.
  • Investigate child abuse or neglect cases and take authorized protective action when necessary.
  • Refer clients to community or social service programs and educational or work programs.
  • Organize patient support groups and serve as an advocate for patients within the community.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from a CSWE program.
  • Licensed by the state of Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board as an LCSW or LMSW.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience or 1 year as an intern at UAMS.
