About the Role

USAA is seeking a highly skilled Program/Project Management Lead to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for facilitating and owning the execution and delivery of moderately to highly sophisticated non-IT work efforts intended to accomplish business goals and objectives within prescribed timeframes and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive implementation of moderately to highly complex work typically requiring confidentiality and enterprise-level insight to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and resources to achieve program and breakthroughs within established timeframes.
  • Manage risk by using established risk management practices to address execution challenges associated with quality, schedule, and costs, in adherence with risk management framework.
  • Accountable for planning, advising, and coordinating activities for moderately complex and work efforts to accomplish goals and objectives within a specified timeframe, scope, and budget.
  • Ensure consistent visibility for teams by supervising and reporting business objectives, work efforts achievements, and key indicators.
  • Communicate with work efforts partners and executive/senior management and provide insight on issues through root cause analyses.
  • Facilitate collaboration on creative alternatives to project challenges with subject matter experts.
  • Remove obstacles and impediments to ensure business and operational objectives are met.
  • Develop, track, and lead all aspects of project budgets that may include vital capital expenditures, operational expenses, and labor funding requirements.
  • Manage ambiguity and consistently seek to drive clarity amongst project collaborators.
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Define the control and the overall delivery of the work efforts to meet the goals, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Establish overall cadence for communication with impacted partners and provide framework for underlying work efforts(s) communication plans.
  • Identify and determine interdependencies of work within a work effort.
  • Participate in work effort closure activities to determine benefit/business impact realization to include retrospective management.
  • Proactively manage risk by using work efforts management practices to address execution challenges associated with quality, schedule, and cost and supports critical issue to resolve.
  • Adhere to EPMO processes, procedures, controls, standards, tools, and templates (as required).
  • Drive adoption and challenges standards. Leads subject matter experts.
  • Drive the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA's Change Management methodology.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years of proven experience in project or program management, including planning, tracking, and delivery.
  • Expert knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience on project and program management and execution experience delivering complex work efforts working with recognized program and/or project methodologies (i.e. Waterfall and Agile).
  • Collaboration skills in a matrixed environment including providing consultative guidance to help solve enterprise-level issues.
  • Extensive experience leading complex projects with significant numbers of results including information technology and dependencies across organization; working within defined scope and budgets with aggressive timelines.
  • Extensive understanding of risk management policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Experience presenting high-level information to partners and executives.
  • Professional experience coordinating large and complex projects using JIRA/JWM/Confluence.
  • Independent and self-sufficient time management skills, experience tracking and monitoring their time, as well as an understanding of the effort other partners need/complete on their projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, experience with communicating issues, proposed solutions, status updates, and when critical issues or additional support are needed.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks throughout the lifecycle of a project - be able to communicate and monitor those risks.
What We Offer

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $120,550 - $216,990.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
