Responsibilities
Rebecca (Missie) Hendry & Associates, the insurance staff counsel for State Farm, is seeking an insurance defense attorney to join our expanding office. Candidates with first or second chair trial experience and/or some civil litigation experience in insurance are preferred. We welcome applications from former Assistant Public Defenders and Assistant State Attorneys. Applicants should possess a strong understanding of Florida civil procedure, evidence, and trial strategy, along with exceptional written and oral advocacy skills. Ideal candidates will be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing a caseload with time-sensitive work.
This position is classified as hybrid, requiring a combination of in-office and remote work. All hybrid employees must spend some time in the office, with arrangements subject to change based on business needs.
We maintain a vibrant civil trial practice and offer a collaborative, team-oriented professional environment supported by skilled staff.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with outstanding academic credentials
- Active license to practice law in Florida and good standing with the Florida Bar
- Preferred 3+ years of legal experience
- Insurance defense experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- Jury trial experience in civil or criminal law is preferred
- Experience with discovery, depositions, and hearings
- Proficient in technology for litigation management, including Word, Outlook, and Westlaw
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
- Applicants must be eligible to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship.
