Position Overview: The Staff Gastroenterologist at Boys Town National Research Hospital is responsible for delivering specialized medical and surgical care to patients, particularly focusing on children with gastrointestinal issues. This role is integral to the multi-disciplinary clinic teams, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized care for gastrointestinal patients in both hospital and outpatient settings.
  • Act as a vital member of the multi-disciplinary evaluation and treatment team, focusing on children with digestive disorders.
  • Design and implement clinical and/or fundamental research initiatives in the gastroenterology field, aligning with the strategic objectives of Boys Town National Research Hospital.
  • Collaborate with fellow hospital staff on various clinical and research projects.
  • Engage in educational programs for medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals, enhancing knowledge in pediatric gastroenterology.
  • Contribute to the development of program objectives and staffing requirements for effective medical management.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the hospital's leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, particularly with non-physician members.
  • Proven research expertise, evidenced by publications in reputable medical journals.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Capability to assess situations and devise solutions effectively.
  • Meticulous record-keeping of patient interactions and outcomes.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Board certification in Pediatrics and subspecialty certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition is mandatory.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Nebraska is required.
  • Qualifications for a faculty position at Creighton University Medical School in the Pediatrics Department are necessary.
  • A minimum of three years of pediatric residency training, along with additional gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition training, is required.
