Job Title: Director of Public Works

The City of Blue Springs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Public Works to lead the Public Works Department. This is a critical role that requires a strong leader with a proven track record of managing large teams and complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of the City's Capital Improvement Plan, ensuring that all public infrastructure projects align with community needs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Manage department operations, including budget development, financial analysis, and expenditure tracking.
  • Directly supervise department staff, including professional engineers, technical personnel, and administrative support.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex engineering issues and ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including other governmental jurisdictions, contractors, and the public.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in civil engineering, public works management, or a related field, with at least five years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams and multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Expertise in public works project management, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure planning.
