Job Description

By The Yard Inc is a leading outdoor furniture brand, renowned for its high-quality, eco-friendly products. We're seeking a highly motivated and organized Commercial Sales Business Development Representative to join our team and drive sales growth in the multi-family housing market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate sales through existing and new commercial customers, leveraging strong relationship-building skills and a deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Collaborate with our design team to maximize commercial customers' space and experience with our products.
  • Organize lunch and learns with designers and commercial clients to foster strong relationships and drive sales.
  • Prepare and process sales quotes and orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Make recommendations to customers based on product inspections and issue identification, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and generate new business opportunities and income for assigned markets, following up on company-provided leads and generating own prospects and referrals.
  • Present high-value proposals to sales leaders, trainers, and C-level executives, achieving/exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas.
  • Identify, pursue, engage, and close new clients, growing existing clients and opportunities, including presenting, promoting, and offering services to potential and existing clients based on their needs.
  • Generate and qualify leads through various methods, including cold calling, referrals, research, etc.
  • Complete market research and monitor competitor activity, staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices.
  • Undertake continual learning and education, staying current on product knowledge and industry developments.
  • Ability to travel regionally, with daily or overnight stays, to maintain a consistent presence with local office staff, customers, and prospects throughout assigned markets.

Requirements:

  • Travel is required for this position.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business development or commercial sales preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a willingness to drive to/transport and set up trade show booths as needed.
  • Position is located in Jordan, MN (not remote).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience in property management, commercial real estate, project management, or design preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, multi-task, shift demands, and willingness to be collaborative and support team efforts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and detail-oriented skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 365.
