Role Overview

The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in the front office, serving as the initial point of contact for patients and staff. This position is responsible for directing patient flow, performing patient check-ins, and scheduling appointments. Additionally, the Patient Service Representative maintains patient financial records and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handles telephone calls from patients and staff, forwarding calls requiring triage.
  • Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
  • Performs data entry of service charges, including the assignment of diagnostic codes and the entering of all physician and clinic-related charges.
  • Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting
