The state-of-the-art facility in Woodland utilizes advanced technologies to transform whole tomatoes into a variety of products, including diced, crushed, stewed, sauces, and paste. Compensation: $37.94 per hour. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with occasional weekend and overtime hours as necessary. The role is part of a seniority-based collective bargaining unit and involves working various shifts, particularly during peak processing seasons.

The Controls Technician is responsible for ensuring the effective operation of control systems within the facility. This includes performing preventative maintenance, load calculations, basic circuit installations, and electrical system testing. Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Installation, adjustment, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of control systems, instruments, and related equipment.
  • Identification and rectification of potential control system failures.
  • Testing, timing, and calibration of pneumatic and electromechanical components, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI) hardware and software, printers, level and temperature devices, control valves, and chart recorders.
  • Interpreting blueprints, charts, sketches, and operating instructions to execute tasks accordingly.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities on control systems and equipment.
  • Ensuring an adequate supply of necessary repair parts.
  • Managing work layout and requisitioning required equipment.
  • Conducting load calculations to determine wire size, conduit size, transformer size, and power supply size.
  • Executing basic circuit installations, including layout and bending of conduit, pulling wire, and finalizing circuit installations.
  • Performing electrical system testing using instrumentation such as multi-meters, amp probes, and oscilloscopes.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Dependable with a strong attendance record.
  • At least 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possession and use of personal hand tools are required.
  • Proven experience in leading control system installations and upgrades, along with designing and constructing control and electrical panels.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting relevant diagrams, drawings, and schematics.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC, HMI, and associated software suites, such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Automation Direct.
  • Experience in server configuration, development, and administration for control data manipulation, including SQL, Java, and HTML, along with networking and domain structure administration skills.
  • Familiarity with NEC and UL Standards, electrical abbreviations, and symbols.
  • Able to install, program, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
  • Background in solid-state circuitry and devices, high voltage D.C. rectifiers, and control circuits.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for creating electrical drawings.
