The Patient Admissions Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating efficient and patient-focused admissions for inpatient and observation cases. This position is vital for maintaining accurate data collection, ensuring compliance with regulatory documentation, and coordinating comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Welcoming patients upon admission or observation, conducting personal interviews to confirm and enter demographic and insurance details, and guiding them through the admission paperwork.
  • Updating the system with admission-related information, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
  • Reviewing daily admissions for coverage accuracy, verifying medical benefits, and communicating updates to relevant staff to maintain proper authorization processes.
  • Addressing registration correction requests and assisting in monthly reporting of inaccuracies to the Patient Access Manager.
  • Engaging with patients to collect cost-sharing amounts and outstanding balances, providing information on financial counseling and assistance options when necessary.
  • Monitoring assigned work queues, following up with providers to rectify order entries, and ensuring all account corrections are made during the patient's admission whenever feasible.
  • Maintaining a professional and empathetic demeanor in all interactions, ensuring a positive experience for patients during registration and information provision.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and required training sessions to stay informed and compliant with organizational policies.
  • Adhering to hospital policies regarding attendance, attire, and overall readiness for work.
  • Performing additional tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
