Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Power Line Technician to join our team. As a Power Line Technician, you will assist in safely constructing, operating, inspecting, and maintaining our distribution system, equipment, and facilities. You will work under general supervision and be expected to learn industry and Cleco standard work practices from senior staff as well as through on-the-job and formal Cleco training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with safety rules, procedures, and regulations and maintain positive safety observations.
  • Under general supervision, demonstrate capacity to learn and perform all aspects of line operations/construction activities safely and efficiently as required by level of classification.
  • Strive to provide reliable service and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Complete job assignments in accordance with established Cleco policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Work safely, productively, and within established Cleco quality procedures and standards for position (productivity and quality standards can be based upon KPI reports).
  • Assist in the restoration, construction, and maintenance of Cleco's overhead and underground distribution systems safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner, producing positive customer satisfaction and reducing SAIDI/SAIFI.
  • Perform troubleshooting, requesting assistance only when necessary, switching operations, and service restoration to minimize CHO.
  • Perform inspections and maintain distribution/transmission line and substation equipment.
  • Complete job assignments in accordance with established Cleco policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Incorporate Human Performance (TOPI) in daily work routine.
  • Have a good attendance record, including on-time for regular work and scheduled overtime.
  • Be available for callout/emergencies. Based upon current/forecasted weather conditions, respond when called or call in/come in to offer help.
  • Be willing to occasionally work away from normal work location for mutual assistance within Cleco and other electric utilities.
  • Honestly and effectively communicate with managers, supervisors, leads, employees, and customers, maintaining positive behavior.
  • Promote teamwork, supporting company initiatives, and providing good customer satisfaction.
  • Follow instructions and directions from Leads, Supervisors, and Managers.

Qualifications

  • Secondary/High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred
  • Step progression levels based on skill proficiency and scope of job
  • Strong business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry
  • Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
  • Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner

Licenses and Certifications

  • CDL Drivers Licenses required. Loss of CDL will result in automatic termination.
