Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Worthington Steel Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the activities of skilled and unskilled maintenance, and electrical and tool making Team Members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, oversee, plan, and schedule maintenance activity to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Review, prioritize, and plan project execution through the work order system to ensure timely completion and effective resource allocation.
  • Provide necessary maintenance resources for breakdowns and emergency situations to ensure business continuity.
  • Procure repair/replacement parts and components to maintain inventory levels and minimize costs.
  • Implement preventive maintenance procedures and keep records to improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Perform normal supervisory duties, including selection, development, discipline, and communications to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Prepare and present employee performance reviews to ensure fair and effective evaluation.
  • Identify and provide necessary training for maintenance employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure safety policies are followed by all employees to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Track and document maintenance activity and time allotment to optimize resource utilization.
  • Communicate and meet with the engineering department regarding upcoming engineering projects to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Communicate and meet with service providers to create reliable and responsive relationships.
  • Prepare maintenance C.A.Rs (Capital Appropriation Requests) to ensure timely approval and funding.
  • Actively participate in C.I. and cost reduction projects to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Eliminate unsafe conditions and foster safe working behaviors to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify development opportunities for direct reports and provide skills training to enhance their career growth.

Requirements:

  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a reliability or maintenance setting in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proven experience as an industrial safety leader.
  • Competent user of all Microsoft Office programs and experience with SAP.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Ability to adjust on the fly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of safety alarm systems.
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, machine shop, welding, power train, schematics, and print reading.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • Employee selection, development, performance management, discipline, and leadership.
  • Strong ability to prioritize/delegate.
  • Strong computer skills i.e. MS Word, Excel, Project, and CMMS.
