Position Overview
As a Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in managing your designated territory by fostering robust relationships with agents, crafting a profitable portfolio, and delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture strong connections with agents, including necessary travel for agency meetings.
- Provide timely and professional communication to ensure client satisfaction.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including underwriting, loss control, customer service, claims, and marketing.
- Evaluate and select profitable new business by analyzing presented risks, requested coverage, and historical losses.
- Utilize underwriting judgment and analytical tools to accurately classify and price risks.
- Oversee and underwrite your assigned portfolio to achieve profitability and meet financial targets.
- Contribute insights and data to support the implementation of strategic underwriting initiatives.
- Commit to ongoing education and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the insurance sector, or 4 years of experience in the industry.
- Familiarity with Commercial Lines coverages and policies in the relevant states.
- Ability to engage professionally with clients.
- Strong investigative skills to gather facts and analyze coverage.
- Understanding of the significance of accurate data capture.
- Innovative mindset focused on continuous improvement.
- Exemplary service attitude characterized by professionalism and cooperation.
- Capability to manage pressure, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and handle a demanding workload.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation capabilities.
- Comprehension of Central Mutual Insurance Company's policies and procedures.
- Willingness to travel to meet with assigned agents, including occasional overnight trips.
