Biosafety and Environmental Health Manager
Triumvirate Environmental, a leading firm in environmental services across North America, is in search of a Biosafety and Environmental Health Manager to enhance our Professional Services division, focusing on biosafety protocols.
This seasoned EHS expert will possess a comprehensive understanding of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles, challenges, and opportunities, enabling them to identify and address unmet needs for both existing and prospective clients while ensuring optimal satisfaction levels.
The primary objective of the Biosafety Manager is to ensure the safety of client personnel, contractors, and customers, while protecting the surrounding environment. This role involves inspecting and assessing work environments, equipment, and processes to guarantee adherence to safety regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain professional expertise in Federal, State, and local regulations related to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines concerning biosafety, particularly regarding infectious agents, recombinant DNA, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Exhibit the ability to apply biosafety concepts, including criteria for establishing containment levels across various research and laboratory settings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of recombinant DNA technology, viral vectors, and associated biohazards.
- Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to navigate diverse environments effectively.
- Engage in or oversee Institutional Biosafety Committees.
- Conduct inspections of laboratories and other facilities to ensure compliance.
- Perform workplace safety assessments following established procedures, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Identify potential health and safety hazards, such as toxic substances and environmental risks, and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Assist in investigating incidents and injuries, determining causes, and suggesting corrective actions.
- Communicate with client personnel regarding safety concerns and recommend improvements.
- Facilitate routine EHS training sessions, including new employee orientations and hazard communication.
- Prepare reports, including incident documentation, and maintain records as required by regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to the development of occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or revising policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in biosafety, environmental safety, research compliance, or laboratory settings.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field such as Occupational Health, Safety, Chemistry, or Engineering.
- Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to remain composed in challenging situations.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a BSL2/ABSL2 laboratory environment.
- Completion of ABSA or similar professional development courses.
- Active membership in at least one national safety organization.
- Progress towards obtaining a professional certification (RBP, ASP, etc.).
