This role demands a seasoned EHS expert with a comprehensive grasp of environmental health and safety principles, challenges, and solutions. The successful candidate will identify and address unmet needs and opportunities for our clients, ensuring their utmost satisfaction.

The primary responsibility of the Biosafety Consultant is to ensure the safety of client personnel, contractors, and customers while protecting the surrounding environment. This involves thorough inspections and evaluations of workspaces, equipment, and processes to guarantee adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.

Triumvirate provides an array of services to prestigious institutions in sectors such as higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and industry, assisting them in compliance management. Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) biosafety guidelines concerning infectious agents, recombinant DNA, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Effectively apply biosafety concepts, including the criteria for establishing containment levels across various research and laboratory environments.
  • Demonstrate expertise in recombinant DNA technology, viral vectors, and biohazards.
  • Exhibit strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to navigate diverse environments.
  • Participate in or manage Institutional Biosafety Committees.
  • Conduct inspections of laboratories and other facilities to ensure compliance.
  • Perform workplace safety evaluations following established procedures, assessing the use of personal protective equipment in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Identify potential health hazards, such as toxic substances and implement necessary control measures.
  • Assist in accident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Engage with client personnel on workplace safety matters, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Deliver routine EHS safety training sessions, including new employee orientations and hazard communication.
  • Prepare reports, including accident documentation, and maintain records as required by regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to the development of occupational health and safety systems, including drafting and updating policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in biosafety, environmental safety, research compliance, or laboratory settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field such as Occupational Health, Safety, Chemistry, or Engineering.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a BSL2/ABSL2 laboratory environment.
  • Completion of ABSA or similar professional development courses.
  • Active membership in a national professional safety organization.
  • Progress towards obtaining a professional designation/certification (RBP, ASP, etc.).
