Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing standard diagnostic in-vivo/in-vitro studies using radioactive materials and radiation detection equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform basic/standard nuclear medicine PET/CT or CT procedures on patients.
- Explain the nature of the procedures to patients and record patient data ensuring patient privacy.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals or contrast media to detect or treat diseases, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
- Maintain records of tests conducted, prepare data sheets containing test results and patient's history.
- Assure completion of patient's records and charge codes for procedures and supplies.
- Demonstrate appropriate handling and interaction with geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neo-natal patients.
- Maintain lab equipment and perform quality control checks as needed.
- Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
- Effectively utilize all information systems containing relevant patient information in Rad Net and Power Chart as well as Image Archiving System.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current/Valid licensure in nuclear medicine by the State of Illinois Division of Nuclear Safety (IEMA).
- Current/Valid Certification or registration by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine technology.
- 1st shift Monday-Friday.
- ARRT or NMTCB and BLS certifications.
- Excellent Attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history included on application.
