Job Overview

The Safety and Security Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security protocols within a cannabis cultivation facility. This position is essential for providing crucial security and administrative assistance to the management team. The Coordinator may also be cross-trained to support various departments as needed to fulfill operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the check-in process for all employees, visitors, vendors, and deliveries.
  • Ensure that all visitors, vendors, and delivery personnel complete the sign-in sheet.
  • Verify identification and issue temporary badges to visitors, vendors, and delivery personnel.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of scanned IDs, sign-in sheets, and facility logs in both hard copy and digital formats.
  • Provide assistance and support to visitors, vendors, and delivery personnel.
  • Review surveillance footage and maintain detailed event logs from all security systems.
  • Generate new access cards for employees, visitors, and vendors as required.
  • Notify management of any necessary support related to security systems, including surveillance cameras and alarm systems.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and manage outgoing shipments in collaboration with management.
  • Oversee quality control measures in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment throughout the facility and production areas.
  • Promptly report any discrepancies in security systems to the Security Manager.
  • Document all activities using the company's tracking system.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity.
  • Manage the check-in and check-out process for vehicle keys used by drivers.
  • Safeguard cash by delivering it to Human Resources or the appropriate department for accounting.
  • Schedule weekly pickups for cash deposits from order fulfillment.
  • Ensure security measures are in place during cash handling.
  • Collaborate with the corporate finance department to ensure accurate cash management.
  • Receive cash from delivery personnel and secure it in a safe.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in security operations and protocols is essential.
  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Willingness to learn about and safely operate facility equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and able to register with the state cannabis commission as an agent.
  • Compliance with all industry-related laws, regulations, and policies is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires the employee to frequently remain stationary, communicate effectively, and handle various objects and tools. The employee may occasionally lift packages weighing up to 10 lbs and must be able to stand for the majority of the workday. Comfort with heights is necessary, as the role may involve using ladders to service equipment up to 25 feet high. The employee should be able to adapt to varying environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity changes, and may be exposed to natural elements such as pollen and dust. Specific vision abilities required include close observation and the ability to adjust focus. The physical and mental demands outlined here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Work Environment

Work is conducted in a warehouse setting, where the employee may encounter moving mechanical parts and electrical hazards. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
