About the Role

Catholic Health Initiatives seeks a skilled Cardiac Anesthesiologist and Intensivist to join our team at Virginia Mason Medical Center. As a key member of our cardiovascular service line, this individual will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the growth of our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the launch of our new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, collaborating with Advanced Heart Failure, Structural Heart, and Cardiothoracic Surgery teams to deliver high-quality patient care. This includes partnering with Advanced Practice Providers, physician leadership, and other clinical team members in our collaborative care model.

Key Opportunities

  • Supporting the growth of a new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at VMMC.
  • Supporting the growth of a Mechanical Cardiac Support program, including both an established ECMCO program and a new VAD program.
  • Approximately 400 open heart cases per year, including complex aortic arch surgery, redo valve replacement, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, and septal myectomy.
  • Convergent procedures and other complex electrophysiology procedures with a very experienced team of proceduralists.
  • Over 450 structural heart cases per year, including MitraClip, Tricuspid clip, TAVR, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve replacement, Watchman, and high-risk PCI with Impella and/or ECMO support.
  • Opportunities for educational engagement with Anesthesiology residents and Cardiology fellows, and attendance at national conferences.
  • Leadership and committee opportunities across the organization.
  • Structural heart trials.
  • A competitive compensation package, including a $525k salary base and up to $60,000 in Performance/Quality Metric bonuses.

Requirements

  • Board certification in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
  • Ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of Washington.
  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority.
  • Certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography.
