Overview:


The Walsh Group is currently seeking a Cost Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in our Water Group, focusing on projects related to water and wastewater treatment.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction methodologies, cost analysis, and engineering principles.


The Cost Estimator will collaborate closely with management, operations, and estimating teams to thoroughly review project documentation, requirements, and specifications.

Candidates should possess extensive experience in estimating for large-scale projects across various sectors, including Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, and Transportation.

We seek individuals who are confident in working with diverse estimating teams on projects of varying complexity, capable of handling hard bid, negotiated, and conceptual estimates.

Successful candidates will be self-driven, exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage their assigned segments of the estimate.

Responsibilities:
• Review and analyze project plans, requirements, and specifications.

• Demonstrate leadership in coordinating a team of estimators to create comprehensive multidisciplinary estimates.

• Assess labor and equipment costs accurately.

• Conduct precise quantity takeoffs and materials pricing.

• Evaluate and understand all bid documents while identifying project risks.

• Grasp project logistics and timelines.

• Prepare bid packages and compare competitive subcontractor and supplier proposals.

• Collaborate with the Project Management Team to review quotes and estimates.

• Generate estimates at various stages of project completion (conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.)

• Assist with post-bid buyouts as necessary.

• Understand contract requirements for diversity compliance.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience or a College Degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience

• Proven experience estimating projects exceeding $30M

• Proficient in applicable estimating software.

• Extensive understanding of construction costs and engineering principles

• Highly organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks.

• Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines amidst changing demands

• Strong presentation skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
