Position Overview

The Project Engineer (PE) plays a crucial role in the preparation and management of project documentation and logs, providing essential technical support to Project Managers and field teams. Throughout the project lifecycle, the PE is responsible for delivering project updates and product implementation assistance to the technical team. This role also involves defining project objectives and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safety protocols in alignment with company and client policies.
  • Promote the company's Core Values to nurture a family-oriented culture.
  • Develop and refine technical training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and work instructions to comply with customer quality plans and industry standards.
  • Provide engineering support, quality control, contract management, shop drawing reviews, submittals, scheduling, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other project-related functions.
  • Manage change orders, including administration, pricing, submission, and tracking.
  • Assist in formulating the construction plan and engineering methods according to project specifications.
  • Deliver certifiable training on various testing equipment systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Establish methodologies for field testing and develop best practices to monitor testing quality.
  • Oversee project closeout operations, including validation of test reports, redlines, as-built drawings, warranties, and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate and review project drawings, submissions, specifications, changes, and document control.
  • Manage contracts, including administration, scope definition, inquiry responses, progress monitoring, and project closeout functions.
  • Collaborate with project and field management teams to design temporary works, audits, and inspections for cabling installations.
  • Oversee inventory control and tracking of testing equipment and resources.
  • Work with the project team to develop methods for enhancing project efficiencies and profitability.
  • Create frameworks for project metrics and manage data collection.
  • Provide technical and regulatory compliance support across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support Lean practices to align with corporate strategic goals.
  • Minimal overnight travel (approximately 5%) may be required.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or Engineering. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in structured cabling design.
  • Certifications: RCDD (BICSI: Registered Communications Distribution Design) and applicable Project Management Certification.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Technical knowledge in large data center construction and design.
  • Proficiency in document design and Blue Beam software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction technology, scheduling, and methods.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Self-starter with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
Work Environment:

This position is primarily based in an indoor office and construction environment. The role requires the ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders may be necessary.
