As a Fire Alarm Systems Technician, you will:
- Receive service requests from the Service Resource Center, including an overview of equipment/system issues.
- Engage with customer representatives to identify equipment/system malfunctions.
- Diagnose and execute repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at client locations.
You will:
- Adhere to established troubleshooting protocols and consult technical manuals, parts manuals, change notices, and bulletins to resolve equipment issues.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers' Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and operational manuals effectively.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service by maintaining clear communication with district staff and clients to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements accurately using communication devices like smartphones and laptops.
- Secure customer signatures upon the completion of service assignments.
- Participate in an organized On-call rotation.
- Assist in training or mentoring fellow service team members.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, particularly Fire/Life Safety systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational manuals.
- Familiarity with testing equipment, multi-meters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 50-70 lbs.
- Aptitude for working in challenging positions, such as climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, to meet client needs.
- Willingness to travel overnight as necessary.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service.
- Ability to maintain truck inventory for prompt customer response.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a quick learning ability.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
- Retention of any licenses required by national, state, and local regulations.
- Completion of SimplexGrinnell Programming training within 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Willingness to pursue NICET certifications.
