About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Design Methodology CAD Engineer to join our Silicon Technologies group. As part of this team, you will help design and manufacture our next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processor, system-on-chip (SoC). Your expertise will ensure Apple products and services can seamlessly and efficiently handle the tasks that make them beloved by millions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative solutions in physical design and optimization space.
  • Develop and support implementation flows for multiple projects and design teams.
  • Develop and maintain custom CAD tools for implementation and signoff.
  • Create flows to enable successful deployment of new technology nodes.
  • Develop tools and methodologies for best-in-class PPA and productivity, including ML-based solutions.
  • Collaborate with other teams such as physical design verification, RC extraction, IR, and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Work directly with EDA tool vendors to resolve tool issues and identify areas for tool improvements.
Requirements
  • Experience in CAD Tool, CAD flow, or PD methodology.
  • Knowledge of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages.
  • Understanding of some of the analysis involved in Physical Design - extraction, timing, noise, physical verification, EMIR.
  • Minimum requirement of BS+ 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on knowledge of industry-standard PNR tools.
  • Hands-on experience with high-performance and low-power implementation flows.
