This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of Indiana as an Environmental Sustainability Program Manager. As a key member of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), you will play a critical role in developing and managing programs that promote pollution prevention and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement programs to promote pollution prevention and environmental stewardship among industries and businesses.
- Manage the agency's Environmental Stewardship Program, including working with industry stakeholders, evaluating environmental management systems, and conducting site visits.
- Serve as the agency's liaison to the Indiana Partners for Sustainability's Board of Directors, coordinating quarterly meetings, tours, and other activities.
- Create educational materials and resources to promote environmental sustainability and pollution prevention.
- Build relationships with local, state, and federal government representatives, as well as business owners and operators, to promote environmental sustainability and pollution prevention.
- Track and compile measurable outcomes to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental policy, or a related field, plus at least five years of related experience.
- General knowledge of theories, practices, and principles of environmental management, including waste management, water pollution control, and air pollution control.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 and environmental management systems within business and industry.
- Ability to develop and implement programs, define procedures, and prepare schedules to accomplish set objectives within established deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
